Who is this program for? This program is designed
To help neurodivergent students who are about to start college in the Fall of 2021. Congratulations on your admission!
To help returning college students to plan for a successful new academic year.
What is this program for? This structured and guided program will help you develop a list of accommodations that you will need in college.
Why sign up for the program? Neurodivergent students have a much higher chance of succeeding in college when they register with their Disability Office and receive accommodations. Disability Officers, however, often do not have the knowledge to recommend accommodations for neurodivergent students. Through this program, you will have a list of accommodations tailored specifically to your needs and personality to discuss with your Disability Officer.
How does this program work?
Before the program starts:
If you have evaluations that you would like to submit for my review to help in our work, email them to me.
You receive a structured worksheet with detailed and clear instructions for independent work to help you identify potential areas of challenge.
A scheduled 15-minute Zoom/phone/text/email*** check-in with me.
You receive a structured worksheet with detailed and clear instructions for independent work to help you dig deeper into your challenges.
A scheduled 15-minute Zoom/phone/text/email check-in with me.
You submit both worksheets to me on Friday of this week.
We meet for two 45-minute Zoom/phone/text/email sessions to develop a list of accommodations based on the worksheets you have submitted.
I will take notes during our meeting and, once we finish all the work, will email you a list of accommodations we have developed.
*** Format based on your preference
Things to keep in mind:
You need to have a documented disability and an evaluation done within last three years d to qualify for accommodations in college.
Colleges have different obligations to provide accommodations than public schools.
I am happy to write a formal letter for you to take to your appointment with the Disability Officer. This letter is not included in the program cost and will incur a separate fee. This letter is not necessary for you to receive accommodations, but some people prefer to have it.
