CHILDREN AND PARENTS

ADULTS

Does your child struggle with anxiety, depression, argumentativeness, demand avoidance, behavioral outbursts, low self-esteem, learning struggles, underachievement, or history of bullying or trauma? Do any of these issues get in the way of your child's enjoyment of life, learning, growing, and thriving?

Do you struggle to figure out how to help your child? Are you concerned that your relationship with your child is getting lost in arguments, conflicts, and misunderstandings?

Does your child struggle to connect to therapists, does not talk to therapists, does not like to talk about their feelings, and has history of "resisting" therapy?  Has your child found therapists to be annoying or unhelfpul in the past?

I might be a good fit for children and families experiencing the above challenges.

â€‹Autism, ADHD, and other     neurodveleopmental conditions:

In addition to the above, I have  deep expertise and love for working with children with neurodevelopmental differences.

This includes children who are autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, or have other brain-based differences and conditions, who struggle with receptive/expressive language, spoken language/communication, memory, processing speed, and executive functioning.

I also enjoy working with children who are viewed by others as quirky, or who feel that they are different...  While PDA is not an official diagnosis in the US, I have  experience with and knowledge of PDA profile. I am a neurodiversity-affirming therapist.

Does life feel overwhelming for you? Do you struggle with feelings of inadequacy, frustration, shame, anxiety, and maybe even feeling out of control or helpless as you manage your life? Does your mind often return to negative and traumatic events in your distant and recent past? Do you struggle with the intense emotions that come up as you think about these difficult experiences that seem to affect your experiences of the present?

I would love an opportunity to work with you deeply to help you to move on and feel better in your present life.

As an immigrant who made my way from working minimum wage jobs to a PhD and a professional career, I am deeply sensitive to cultural issues and multiple barriers that people often face as they are building their lives. As a trauma survivor and trauma-informed therapist, I have deep compassion and understanding of the care that is needed when touching on painful past events, as well as the incredible potential for healing that humans have. As a mother and a developmental psychologist, I understand on a personal and professional levels the complexities of being a parent and managing relationships in our times.

               â€‹                                       Anxiety, OCD and Phobias:

I have training and experience treating anxiety, phobias (including emetophobia and health phobia), and OCD in both children and adults. I use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Exposure and Response Prevention, which are evidence-based gold standard treatment methods for those conditions. I am a non-judgmental, supportive, and creative therapist who will be there for you or your child and family every step of the way through the hard work of managing these challenging conditions.

I can adapt treatment to specific needs related to intellectual, processing, memory, or communication challenges as needed.                   â€‹

WHAT CAN WE ACHIEVE TOGETHER?

By working together in a systematic, collaborative, careful, and gradual process, we can make things better. My office is a safe space to explore things that are difficult. For each client, I thoughtfully select approaches and tools that match both the need, the personality, and preferences. I am always transparent in any approach and methodology I use, and my clients always have a chance to consent or decline my ideas as we find the best way to achieve their goals. For children, I communicate with and include parents in treatment as needed to support the best progress for the child and for the family.

I currently accept new psychotherapy clients. I have one in person after school slot open and am also available for telehealth.

Self-pay only. I provide monthly superbills for you to submit to your insurance provider.
